Riuraw

Bridging Tradition and Contemporary Culture

RIURAW reinterprets the traditional riurau, a vernacular open gallery once central to community life of the Marina Alta.Conceived as an open and adaptable infrastructure, the new cultural and theatre space extends the public realm, creating a shaded civic plaza that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior, between program and spontaneity. Built from prefabricated ashlar blocks that reuse the remains of the former theatre, the project weaves material memory and local craft into a contemporary architectural language, a living non-binary space shaped by time, experiences, and collective identity.
